TPPOA General Meeting
Meeting Minutes
May 18, 2011

I. Call to order
Charlie Candon called to order the regular meeting of the TPPOA members at 7:30 p.m. on May 18th in Kiwanis Hall. (New time).

II. Treasurer Report
Tim Penn advised: Checking $29,556.90; Bond $28,667.00; CD’s $18,620.09; Total $75,243.99. We received a rebate on the AED’s, which was arranged for by Sharyn Vogel and Michelle DeLalla. We got the grant back and plan to use the funds to purchase new permanent AED boxes.

III. Open issues
a) Turkey Point Clean Up Day – was a great success. Thank you to Jim Hunter for spearheading the bulkhead restoration. Assisting were John Sasenick, Jim Ziepolt, Chip Parmele and Charlie Candon. They repaired the steps to the pier, pier boards and nails. Leeann Candon and Carole Rader also lead planting annuals around the Marsh Dedication sign, which was surrounded with a wood perimeter. Grasses at Boyd Drive were cut by Rick Feldman, Nancy Walter, Laurie, Kathy Parmele. Matt Carr led a group that spread gravel and trimmed phragmites at the beach access on the cul de sac. Signs were repaired. Beaches and roads were cleaned up. Mike Falkowski arranged for wood chips for the playground. Jim Z, Jim Hunter and Rick Feldman spread the wood chips and sprayed the playground area.

b) Newsletter – Carole Rader and Marlene Simoncini did another fantastic edition. Thank you to you both. Anyone that would like to volunteer to help with editing should contact Carole Rader. Sharyn requested that we include a reminder about the AED’s and their locations. Also to contact Michelle DeLalla about CPR refresher coarse. Jim Z has the VHS tapes on AED education.

c) Community Yard Sale – Mike and Tracy Sweeney spearhead the yard sale. Announcement on website and in newsletter. Ad in Capital.

d) Mosquito spraying will start June 2nd and continue until September 29th. Spraying will be done between 7:30 p.m. and 2 a.m. on Thursdays.

e) Community Security Program will be discussed by Lt. Bruce Whitlow at the Southern District Police Station on Stepney Lane tomorrow evening.

f) Shred-O-Rama will be at South River High School on Saturday, May 21st from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

g) Facebook Page – reminder to join TPI facebook for automatic e-mail announcements.

h) Kiwanis is holding a Children’s Book Fair on Saturday, May 21st from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each child will receive a free book and have their picture taken. Hot Dogs, chips and juice will be offered. A flyer was sent to the local elementary schools.

i) Billing will be sent in July for Lot assessment and dues. Two stickers will be sent to members in good standing, current/up to date on payment.
